The territorial dispute between the cities of Taguig and Makati has now affected the Philippine National Police (PNP) as the organization confirmed that some police stations in “Embo” areas will be transferred to its new jurisdiction.
PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo, however, clarified that the transfer of police stations does not cover the police personnel as they will remain with their respective city police stations.

“Ang magiging concern lang on the part of the PNP dahil nga iyan pong mga areas na dati ay nasa ilalim ng Makati [City] Police Station ay itu-turnover na sa Taguig City police station (The only concern on the part of the PNP is that those areas that are previously under the Makati [City] Police Station will be turned over to Taguig City Police Station),” Fajardo said in a Laging Handa public briefing on Friday, August 18.
“Ang mga personnel ng Makati will remain doon sa Makati pero ang pina-plano dyan para magkaroon din ng transition ay may maiiwan na mga ilang personnel ng Makati City Police Station para alalayan ang mga magte-take over na pulis galing Taguig (The personnel of Makati will remain in Makati but the plan there to have a transition is there are some personnel of Makati City Police Station that will be left behind to assist Taguig cops who will take over from them),” she added.
Fajardo vowed that the PNP will follow the orders from the Supreme Court (SC) while putting premium on maintaining peace and order amid the conflict between the two developed cities.
“Tayo po ay doon lamang sa maintenance of peace and order na siguraduhin na wala pong mangyayaring anumang gulo arising from any tension sa magkabilang partido (We are for the maintenance of peace and order to ensure that there will be no trouble arising from any tension from opposing parties),” she said.
The issue emanated from a ruling issued by the High Court in 2021 which stated that Taguig, not Makati, has jurisdiction over the Fort Bonifacio Military Reservation.
The area is where the Bonifacio Global City (BGC) and several EMBO villages are located including Barangays Pembo, Comembo, Cembo, South Cembo, West Rembo, East Rembo, and Pitogo.
