Mandaluyong LGU urges private companies to hire senior citizens, PWD workers
The Mandaluyong City local government has passed of a resolution urging businesses in the city to hire senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) and to forge partnerships and agreements with other sectors of the community to open more jobs for them, it was announced Friday, August 18.
Mandaluyong City Mayor Ben Abalos signed Resolution No. 3316, S-2023 or the "Resolution urging all business establishments in the city of Mandaluyong to provide employment opportunities to and incorporate job engagement plans for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the operation of their businesses". The measure was signed by Abalos on Aug. 16.
"Senior citizens and PWDs are two of the most vulnerable sectors of the society which necessitate ample care and assistance while requiring recognition of their rights and support in the improvement of their well-being, all of which leading to their contribution to nation building," the resolution stated.
The local government unit (LGU) said the resolution was passed as part of its mandate to adopt measure that is equally beneficial to senior citizens and PWDs, provide incentives for non-government agencies and entities, and appropriate funds to support programs and projects for their benefit.
