A 26-year-old passenger was injured after allegedly falling onto tracks of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 on Saturday morning, Aug. 19.
In a press statement, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said a man fell on southbound tracks of Blumentritt Station at 6:12 a.m. as a train was approaching.
Fortunately, the train operator managed to immediately apply the emergency brake when he saw the man fall on the tracks, DOTr noted.
First responders arrived at 6:33 a.m. and found the victim conscious with head abrasions and a severed left foot.
He was rushed to a hospital and is in stable condition as of 9:32 am.
Full operations of the LRT-1 resumed at 6:44 am.
Authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.
