“The classroom is one of our favorite projects,” Defensor said during his regular press conference.
Under the provincial government’s Special Education Fund (SEF), the Defensor administration is backing the infrastructure programs of the Department of Education (DepEd)-Division of Iloilo.
“We are spending a lot of money on classrooms and we intend to spend more,” said Defensor.
The Defensor administration’s Bulig Eskwela sang Probinsya (BES Probins) is allocating budget for the construction, repair, and maintenance of school buildings and other facilities in public schools in the 42 towns in Iloilo and component city of Passi.
For construction, the new classrooms must be typhoon-resilient as part of the compliance to build stronger infrastructures with the yearly natural disasters.
The BES Probins will also fund other facilities like construction or improvement of facilities such as clinics or wash areas.
The Provincial Population Office will also continue building more teen center buildings in key schools to strengthen adolescent health and psychosocial needs of young learners.
Defensor said that the Provincial School Board will hire 300 additional teachers this year.
