It's been 11 years since Jesse Robredo passed away, and P3PWD Party-list nominee Rowena Guanzon couldn't help but remember her old friend.
"Death anniversary of my friend Jesse Robredo today," Guanzon wrote in an X post (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Aug. 18. She uploaded a grabbed photo of the former longtime Naga mayor and Department of the Interior Local Government (DILG) Secretary to go with her post.
"We were both [elected] city Mayors in 1988," Guazon said in a trivia of sorts.
Beginning in 1988, Robredo served six terms as mayor of Naga in Camarines Sur. He died in a plane crash off the shore of Masbate Island on Aug.18, 2012.
As for Guanzon, she was elected as mayor of Cadiz, Negros Occidental that same year. However, she was actually appointed to the post in 1986 following the EDSA People Power Revolution.
Robredo was the husband of former vice president Leni Robredo. Guanzon supported the latter's presidential bid during the May 2022 national elections.
