Entertainment industry mourns passing of Angie Ferro


Veteran actress Angie Ferro passed away, Aug. 17, Thursday. 

She was 86. 

Her granddaughter Lorelie Futol confirmed her passing to ABS-CBN News.

She didn't give details as to the actual cause of her demise. 

Angie suffered from multiple strokes prior. 

Industry figures including Suzette Doctolero mourned her death on social media, posting, "Patay na si Uray Hilway ng Amaya at Lola Igna. My teacher, a friend, ina ng aming teatro. Rest in Peace, BB. Angie Ferro."

Actor Mon Confiado posted, "Pakikiramay at Panalangin sa lahat ng Umalagad. Paalam Uray Hilway."

Both the The Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP) and The Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) also paid tribute to Angie.

Angie won the 1979 FAMAS Best Supporting Actress for the movie "Pagputi ng uwak... Pag-itim ng tagak." 

She also gained acclaim for her performances in Lav Diaz’s “Evolution of a Filipino Family,” Eduardo Roy Jr.’s “Lola Igna” for which she won the Best Actress award at the 2019 Pista ng Pelikulang Pilipino (PPP), and as Uray Hilway in the Philippine historical drama series “Amaya.” 

Angie's last film was Chito S. Roño’s  "Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan."
