BACOLOD CITY – Police arrested a suspect in the killing of a college teacher in Barangay San Pedro, Binalbagan, Negros Occidental on Wednesday, August 16.
Police Major Randy Babor, Binalbagan police chief, said that a 19-year-old boy was arrested in his residence in Barangay San Teodoro after he was captured in a closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage and was identified by some witnesses.
Babor said the suspect and his two companions chanced upon 51-year-old Tony Lazaga and robbed him while he was on his way to his boarding house.
He said that according to the arrested suspect, they stabbed the victim after he resisted the robbery.
Lazaga sustained stab wounds, according to Babor. The victim’s cellular phone and cash were stolen by the suspects.
Babor said the teenager’s companions have been identified and are the subject of a manhunt operation.
Murder charges will be filed against them, he said.
