The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has extended a special invitation to students and teachers to show their unwavering support for the Philippine basketball team throughout the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

On behalf of CHED, Chairman Popoy De Vera has called upon educators and students across all educational levels to join in as spectators at the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023.
This much-anticipated event is set to take place at the renowned Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan from Aug. 25 to Sept. 2.
In support of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.'s commitment to bolster Filipino athletes as they strive to raise the Philippines' profile in the global sports arena, CHED is urging students and teachers alike to come together and stand in solidarity with Gilas Pilipinas during the forthcoming 2023 FIBA World Cup.
"Sama-sama nating suportahan ang mga atletang Pilipino sa darating na FIBA World Cup 2023! Sabay nating isigaw 'Puso para sa Bayan' (Let's all come together to support the Filipino athletes in the upcoming FIBA World Cup 2023! Let's shout together, 'Heart for the Nation'),” De Vera said.
Meanwhile, De Vera revealed that the FIBA Basketball World Cup Local Organizing Committee is offering a significant 50 percent discount on tickets for both students and teachers who will be attending the grand opening ceremony on Aug. 25 at the Philippine Arena.

This discount will also be applicable for selected matches scheduled from Aug. 26 to Sept. 2, covering various seating categories, including premium upper box, regular upper box, and general admission sections.

CHED has provided instructions for students to present their School IDs, while teachers can present their Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) IDs, at any TicketNet or SM Ticket outlet.
De Vera has particularly emphasized the active participation of students and teachers from the National Capital Region (NCR), Central Luzon, and Calabarzon regions, encouraging them to seize this golden chance to partake in the thrilling FIBA Basketball World Cup matches.
In preparation for the spectacular opening ceremonies of the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2023 at the esteemed Philippine Arena, the Malacañang had earlier announced the suspension of classes and work in public schools, as well as government offices, in Metro Manila and Bulacan on Aug. 25.
