Holy masses will also be held at 6 a.m. and at 5 p.m. Novena masses were offered from Aug. 8 to 16.

At the Santa Clara de Montefalco Parish on Burgos Street, Pasay City, Novaliches Bishop Emeritus Antonio Tobias will preside over a high mass at 6 p.m.

On the first day of the nine-day novena, Manila Archbishop Jose Cardinal Advincula presided over the mass and the solemn rite of installation of Rev. Msgr. Claro Matt M. Garcia as the 23rd parish priest.

Also known as Saint Claire of the Cross because of her intense devotion to the Passion of Christ, she formed the Monastery of the Holy Cross at her birthplace in Montefalco, Italy, where her relics are venerated today.

Born in the year 1268, she entered the rule of the Third Order of St. Francis as a very young girl.

She died in 1318 and was canonized on Dec. 8, 1881, by Pope Leo XIII.
