Bulacan police probes fatal shooting of tricycle driver in Hagonoy
Bulacan police operatives are investigating the fatal shooting of a tricycle driver in Barangay Iba-Ibayo in Hagonoy, Bulacan on Sunday, Aug. 13.
Police said the victim, Renato De Leon, was waiting for passengers in the area around 5 p.m. on Sunday, when he was shot by the suspect who fled on board a sports utility vehicle.
De Leon bore multiple gunshot wounds at the back of his body.
Police said they are still gathering statements from witnesses.
Based on a closed-circuit television footage, the suspect passed De Leon who was driving his tricycle, but started chasing him and blocked his path.
The suspect got off from the passenger's seat and shot the victim's back several times before fleeing. The victim died on the spot.
Police said the suspect aimed to kill De Leon because based on the CCTV footage, the suspect's vehicle came back after he saw the victim's tricycle.
Police were able to trace the license plate of the suspect’s vehicle which turned out to be for another vehicle.
The Hagonoy police said the incident started from an altercation between the suspect and the victim on the road.
Investigation is onging.
