3,982 examinees pass August 2023 medical technologist licensure exam — PRC
A total of 3,982 out of 5,401 takers have passed the Aug. 2023 licensure examination for medical technologists, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) said on Thursday, Aug. 17.
With an average of 93.30 percent, Sam Jeffrey Bitao Tiongco from the Saint Louis University (SLU) topped the medical technologists board exam conducted on Aug. 12 and 13.
Gabriel Martin Quevenco Canillas from University of San Agustin (USA) and Jolina Mae Dela Peña Ongchinke from University of Santo Tomas (UST) tied for second with 92.70 percent each.
Meanwhile, Kevin Carlo Macaspac Ganas and Hilary Marj Lopez Orbeta, both from UST, hold the third rank with an average of 92.40 percent.

The examination took place in Metro Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Koronadal, Legazpi, Lucena, Pagadian, Pampanga, Rosales, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga.
It was facilitated by the Board of Medical Technology headed by its chairman, Marilyn A. Cabal-Barza, and member Leila Lany M. Florento.
PRC said passers may register online for their Professional Identification Card and Certificate of Registration on Oct. 2 to 6, Oct. 9 to 13 and Oct 16.
Passers can view the instructions for registration at prc.gov.ph.
Furthermore, the requirements for registration include a downloaded duly accomplished oath form or "Panunumpa ng Propesyonal," notice of admission, two pieces of passport-sized pictures (colored with white background and complete name tag), two sets of documentary stamps, and a short brown envelope.
PRC said the date and venue of the medical technologist inductees' oathtaking will be announced soon.
Furthermore, the PRC emphasized that individuals who did not pass the exam but obtained a general rating of 70 percent may still register as a medical laboratory technician. (Sonny Daanoy)
