TAPE president welcomes IPOPHL's renewal of 'Eat Bulaga' trademark
The president and chief executive officer (CEO) of the Television and Production Exponents Inc. (TAPE) welcomed the renewal of the trademark registration of the name “Eat Bulaga” in favor of the company.
The Bureau of Trademarks under the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) issued the Certificate of Renewal of Registration for the “Eat Bulaga” and “EB” trademarks and logos to TAPE earlier this month.

The registration showed the date of registration was on June 14, 2013 and was renewed on June 14, 2023. The registration under TAPE will last for 10 years and expire on June 14, 2033.
Romeo Jalosjos Jr., TAPE president and CEO, said he is happy with the renewal of the "Eat Bulaga" trademark.
“I’m happy na nabigyan yung renewal namin ng IPO. I’m really, really happy and glad na dahan-dahan na talagang nasasagot ang tanong kung sino ba talaga ang may-ari ng show na ‘Eat Bulaga’ (I’m happy that the IPO granted our renewal. I’m really, really happy and glad that slowly the question is being answered about who is the real owner of the show ‘Eat Bulaga’),” said Jalosjos.
TAPE successfully renewed the trademarks amid its ongoing legal battle with Tito and Vic Sotto, and Joey de Leon, known as TVJ.
The company is the prior registrant of “Eat Bulaga,” filing the registration in 2011 and the trademark was registered on June 14, 2013.
TAPE lawyer Maggie Abraham-Gardugue earlier said the IPOPHL issued the certificate of renewal of registration for “Eat Bulaga” despite the filing of the petition for cancellation of said trademark by TVJ, the former hosts of “Eat Bulaga,” on June 2 this year with the government agency.
She said TAPE received the certificate of renewal on Aug. 4. The registration expired last June 14 but TAPE was able to renew it for another 10 years.
"Yes, we received the certificate of renewal yesterday. Since it has a term of 10 years so TAPE Inc. owns the trademark of 'Eat Bulaga' until 2033," she said.
