Senior citizen injured after being hit by motorcycle in Binondo

A senior citizen was injured after being hit by a motorcycle while crossing a pedestrian lane in Binondo, Manila, on Wednesday morning, Aug. 16.
The Manila Police District identified the victim as Marilou Ty Oh Tang Kang, 65, a resident of Sampaloc, Manila.
The Manila Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (MDRRMO) said the incident transpired at 10:43 a.m. along Reina Regente Street in front of Lucky Chinatown in Binondo.
Police identified the motorcycle rider as Ronnel Jay Denaga, 22, resident of San Isidro, Rodriguez, Rizal.
Based on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, the victim was slowly crossing the pedestrian lane when a motorcycle hit her.
The motorcycle rider and the victim both fell on the ground due to the impact.
The victim sustained abrasions on different parts of the body, while the rider had abrasions on his arms and legs.
The victim was brought to Jose Reyes Hospital after receiving first aid.
Police said the victim is still in the hospital undergoing treatment for injuries on legs and shoulders.
Meanwhile, the rider is under police custody of the Manila District Traffic Enforcement Unit (MDTEU) and will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injury.
