Actor/director Ruben Soriquez is reviving his music career, which, according to him, is his first love.

In an interview, Ruben pointed out his latest endeavor.

"Let’s Travel Together" is his second single, this time in Tagalog. It will be released this Aug. 30 on Spotify, iTunes, YouTube, Amazon, and other platforms, and its music video.

Interestingly, he finished his new single after more than two decades.

He explained, "I composed the music myself back in 2000 while I was the frontman of the Italian band No Smoking, but the final Tagalog lyrics were only made this year. I sing it in Tagalog to pay tribute to a country that has given me so much."

Soriquez went on, "What is the song about? It’s an inspirational song about finding your way in life no matter how difficult and pursuing one’s dream until it materializes.

"It’s a pop song and a feel-good song. It’s in Tagalog except for a part in the refrain in Tagalog and English."

And what are his dreams?

"I’ve got many of them still! One of them is to perform live again as I used to do in my 20s.

"I want to perform live again because I miss the close contact with an audience that only a live show can give you direct feedback on your performance."

The Fil-Italian artist also shared some tidbits about his first single.

"My first single is “You Fly Away,” a catchy rock song where I enjoy playing the lead guitar and performing a solo at the end. The music video is on my YouTube channel, Ruben Soriquez; it has good views as it has hit 180,000 views as we speak."

He also mentioned that before becoming an actor, director, and movie producer, he started in the entertainment industry as a musician.

"Nagsimula ako talaga bilang musician, then I focused on acting and filmmaking. I also released a full album with my band Stranafonia in 1997 and a second with the band No Smoking in 2003.

"Then I stopped and just kept playing at home for myself.

"I define myself as a 360-degree artist. I am more of a songwriter and composer than a singer, I don’t sing other artists’ songs, just mine."

Furthermore, Ruben reiterated that he wants to simultaneously pursue his love for music and acting.

"I am still active on the acting side, with two feature films where I play the lead role currently in post-production, and I am guest starring in the TV series “The Iron Heart” starring Richard Gutierrez.

"But I plan to devote more time to my music career now. I am putting a band together in Rome since I plan to perform in Europe and the US, which is my new dream," Ruben said.

He added, "We are looking forward to making more songs… My ten-song full album is scheduled to be released this coming November 15.
