Nueva Ecija declares drag artist Pura Luka Vega persona non grata

CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (provincial board) of Nueva Ecija has declared drag artist Pura Luka Vega as persona non grata.

The provincial board approved Resolution No. 475-S-2023 making Amadeus Fernando Pagente an unwanted person in Nueva Ecija over his controversial “Ama Namin” (Lord’s Prayer) performance.

The province said Pagente disregarded the religious sentiments of the Christian majority in his performance.

The resolution suggested to other provinces to consider taking similar measures in defense of shared values.

Provincial Board Member Jojo Matias introduced the motion which received unanimous approval.

“Walang puwang para sa mga ang walang respeto sa relihiyosong damdamin dito sa Nueva Ecija (There is no place in Nueva Ecija for those who disrespect our religious sentiments),” Matias said.

Nueva Ecija is the latest area to declare Pagente persona non grata, following Manila, Bukidnon, Floridablanca, Pampanga; Toboso, Negros Occidental, and General Santos City in South Cotabato.
