Mayor in Quezon feted by social welfare officers

GENERAL LUNA, Quezon â€“ Mayor Matt Erwin Florido here was named Outstanding Municipal Mayor in the Philippines in the field of social services by the Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines (ALSWDOPI) on August 15 at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City.

Florido was cited for his genuine passion for providing opportunities to change the lives of his constituents through innovative social welfare and development programs and services with high integrity and for his outstanding leadership in the municipality.

He said in a Facebook post that he was the only municipal mayor in Luzon given such recognition for outstanding programs and services that promote social well-being in fourth- to sixth-class municipalitiies.

This town is a fourth-class municipality in Quezon.

According to the ALSWDOP, Florido is known as the mayor with a heart in the province of Quezon because of his unwavering commitment to serving the people here.

The organization added he adheres to transparent and actable governance and loves innovation in various programs and plans.

Florido dedicated the award to his constituents.

I humbly dedicate this prestigious award to all of you, my beloved Heneralunahin. You can continue to expect that we will intensify the provision of effective and efficient public service, Florido said.
