Leyte Colleges unbeaten in ROTC Games

Leyte Colleges (LTC) recovered from a sluggish start and overcame Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT), 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-16, to advance to the women's volleyball semifinals in the 2023 Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) Games Visayas Leg at the University of San Agustin Gymnasium here on Wednesday, Aug, 16.

ILOILO CITY -- Leyte Colleges (LTC) recovered from a sluggish start and overcame Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology (SCSIT), 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 25-16, to advance to the women's volleyball semifinals in the 2023 Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Games Visayas Leg at the University of San Agustin Gymnasium here on Wednesday, Aug, 16.

Looking invincible in the first two games with straight-set victories, the Tacloban spikers were caught off-guard by the Cebuana cadets who got off to an inspiring start spearheaded by Ronamie Capuras.

Fortunately, Leyte regained consciousness and weathered some anxious moments in the ensuing sets with Sig Dacillo carrying the fight for the squad which remained unbeaten in three games and moved one win away from earning a ticket to the national finals set in October.

"Maging kalmado lang, maging ready at alert 'yun lang ang kailangan at i-observe kung paano ang takbo ng bola," LTC head coach Bob Montejo reminded his wards after a rough opening set that saw them commit several miscues.

For the second straight game, Dacillo topscored for LTC with 13 points. Capuras, on the other hand, registered a game-high 16 points in a losing cause.
