CINCINNATI (AFP) -- Andy Murray on Tuesday, Aug. 15, pulled out of his first-round match at the ATP/WTA Cincinnati Open with the injured Scot replaced in the draw by Germany's Daniel Altmaier.

Murray had been in doubt since last week in Toronto, when he handed in a third-round walkover to eventual tournament champion Jannik Sinner.
The three-time Grand Slam winner was suffering with an abdominal injury and now has less than a fortnight if he is to pull up fit for the US Open starting on August 28.
Altmaier faces Australian Alexei Popyrin in the first round.
