House Speaker Martin Romualdez has won the FAMAS Excellence in Public Service Award.
Romualdez marked the happy occasion in a Facebook post Monday night, Aug. 14 wherein he hailed the people in the local film industry.
"I am humbled and honored to stand before you today to accept the FAMAS Excellence in Public Service Award. This recognition is not just mine, but belongs to every Filipino whose hopes and dreams inspire and challenge us in the House of Representatives every day," he wrote.
FAMAS stands for Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences. It is an organization composed of award-winning writers and movie columnists, for achievements in Philippine cinema for a calendar year.
"To the artists, directors, writers, and every unsung hero in the entertainment industry, I salute you. You are the torchbearers of our culture, reminding us of our past, grounding us in the present, and guiding us toward the future," said Romualdez.

"In my tenure as the Speaker of the House. I have always believed that our stories, whether told in the hallowed halls of Congress or the silver screen, are essential threads in the fabric of our nation," he shared
"Each story, each law, each scene, and each dialogue carries with it the weight of our shared aspirations and the heart of our beloved nation," noted the Leyte 1st district congressman.
Romualdez is the leader of the 312-strong House of Representatives, which is one of two chambers in Philippine Congress.
