MPD's year-long ops yield P150-M worth of illegal drugs

The Manila Police District (MPD) reported a total of P150,575,152 worth of confiscated illegal drugs in the city as well as the arrest of more than 2,000 drug users and pushers since August last year.
MPD Director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon delivered his first "365 Accomplishment Report" on Monday, Aug. 14, where he said that 2,695 drug suspects were arrested from the 1,301 buy-bust operations conducted in the city.
In his annual report, Dizon highlighted the accomplishments of the Manila police in conducting anti-criminality operations and campaigns.
He said over 2,700 wanted and most wanted persons, and 100 criminal gang members were apprehended in the city.
The MPD also nabbed 530 suspects during its 512 operations against loose firearms while its campaign against illegal gambling yielded 5,300 suspects.
More than 175,935 violators were apprehended for defying other ordinances such as obstruction and going half-naked in public.
Through its campaign against Local Communist Armed Conflict (LCAP), 39 rebels surrendered and were given P107,000 worth of financial assistance.
Meanwhile, the MPD had also initiated the construction of several precincts in the city, including Riverview, Paco, Padre Algue, and Sea Wall Police Community Precincts (PCPs).
Dizon also distributed new equipment and devices to MPD's 14 police stations, 43 PCPs, and 10 outposts.
The new sets of equipment include 16 drones, 15 mobile phones, 16 laptops, a printer, 25 motorcycles, three electronic bicycles, 150 mountain bicycles, a new unit of Toyota Hilux Conquest double-cab, 120 units of pistol caliber 99 millimeters, and 6,000 pieces of 9 millimeters ammunition.
