Bautista said the 3.2 kilometer bike lanes will be constructed at the Laoag Bypass Road and is aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle and boost mobility without carbon emission.
“Active transport is cost-efficient and will steer Laoag City away from the traditional sign of progress – road traffic,” said Bautista.
The bike lanes in Laoag City are part of the 2,400 kilometer bike lane network that the DOTr has been pushing in the next five years.
The Laoag City bike lanes are expected to be completed by end of 2023.
