Man, 58, dies in truck, bicycle collision in QC

A 58-year-old man died when his bicycle was hit by a truck along G. Araneta Avenue, in Barangay Tatalon, Quezon City on Monday, Aug. 14.

The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) identified the victim as Elmar Usacdin, of Barangay Manresa.

Initial investigation disclosed that the victim was biking along the thoroughfare near the corner of the Quezon Avenue at around 12:15 p.m. when the incident happened.

Upon reaching a fast food chain branch along G. Araneta Ave., the front portion of an Isuzu truck driven by Jesus Diamante, 43, and a resident of Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon Quezon City, hit the victim’s bicycle from behind.

The victim fell from his vehicle and sustained a fatal head injury, police said. He was declared dead on the spot.

A concerned citizen reported the incident to the QCPD Traffic Sector 4.

Responding police officers immediately arrested the truck driver and appropriate charges will be filed against him.
