SPD nets 76 drug suspects, P1.59 M marijuana, shabu in 1 week
The Southern Police District (SPD), headed by Brig. Gen. Roderick Mariano, reported that 76 drug suspects were arrested and P1.59 million worth of illegal drugs were seized in operations from Aug. 7 to 13.
The illegal drugs confiscated consisted of 504.02 grams of marijuana and 225.78 grams of shabu.

A total of 87 persons were also arrested for illegal gambling with P14,476.75 in bet money confiscated.
The SPD also enforced city ordinances leading to the apprehension of 1,118 persons for drinking in public; 2,093 for smoking in public; 1,113 for being half-naked in public places; ,662 for curfew violations; 162 for urination in public places; 2,203 for traffic code violations; and 1,080 for obstruction-related incidents.
In addition, nine persons were arrested for possession of illegal firearms. Nine firearms were recovered including one that was voluntarily surrendered.
The SPD also said that during the week, eight most wanted persons were arrested and 18 most wanted persons were taken into custody. The district also arrested 33 other wanted persons.
“We remain steadfast in our mission to ensure the safety and security of the Southern Metro. Through these weekly accomplishments, we reaffirm our commitment to uphold the rule of law and provide a secure environment for all residents,” said Mariano.
