Tantoco said "the government does not spend anything" on the event, noting that it was shouldered by the designers and private institutions.

The fashion show, which was held at the Goldenberg Mansion in Malacañang Palace Complex, was a project of First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos for the celebration of Buwan ng Wika, promoting Filipino culture and arts.

"The objective of the series is to provide a platform for Filipino artists to show their work in a historical setting relevant to our Cultural Identity," Tantoco said in a statement on Monday, Aug. 14.

"The government does not spend anything on the event because it is paid for by the designers and private institutions they partner with," Tantoco added.

According to the official, the output is a collaboration among various creative organizations in the industry and creates awareness for local fabrics and designs which have always been key elements in the country's cultural identity.

The fashion show took place on Tuesday, Aug. 8.
