The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has expelled from the country two foreigners allegedly wanted in India for terrorism charges.
BI Intelligence Division chief Fortunato Manahan Jr. said 23-year old Manpreet Singh Gill and 26-year old Mandeep Singh were deported on August 13 via a Thai Airways flight bound for New Delhi.
They were apprehended in Iloilo City last week by the BI's fugitive search unit and various government intelligence agencies following reports of their involvement in alleged terrorism activities in Punjab, India.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco emphasized the importance of the deportations in safeguarding the nation from "undesirable elements that pose a significant risk to its citizens."
The BI acted on information provided by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation, revealing that Manpreet faced numerous charges in India, Including murder and violations of the country's arms act.
In contrast, Mandeep was deemed undesirable for allegedly aiding his compatriot and breaching the conditions of his stay.
