Alyssa Solomon was named the Best Opposite Spiker of the 2023 Southeast Asian Women’s Volleyball League (SEA V. League) second leg on Sunday, Aug. 13, at Chiang Mai in Thailand.

The National University Lady Bulldog standout consistently carried the Philippines’ offensive production against veteran foes.

Tournament host Thailand defeated Vietnam to bag the gold medal, with Thai hitter Chatchu-on Moksri clinching the Most Valuable Player plum while teammates Jarasporn Bundasak (1st Best Middle Blocker) and Piyanut Pannoy (two-time Best Libero) also took home awards.

Meanwhile, Vhi Thi Nu Quynh (1st Best Outside Spiker) and Doan Thi Xuan (2nd Best Middle Blocker) were hailed in the individual award honors in Vietnam’s silver-medal finish.

Indonesia’s Arneta Putro (Best Setter) and Ratri Wulandari (2nd Best Outside Spiker round out the list of awardees.

The young Philippine women's volleyball team was left empty-handed with a 0-3 win-loss slate in the first leg, but had a stronger outing in the second leg despite yielding the same record.
