Unheralded Anthony Raga continued his magical run in the European Open Pool Championships after beating Wojciech Szewczyk of Poland, 10-7, and advanced to the semifinals on Saturday, Aug. 12, at the Hotel Esperanto in Fulda, Germany.

Carrying the nation's pride after the elimination of World Cup champions Johann Chua and James Aranas, Raga displayed steely nerves against the Polish bet in the race-to-10 match that saw five deadlocks.
The Cebuano cue artist momentarily broke free from a 5-all tie and made it a 7-5 lead before Szewczyk charged back and leveled it again at seven apiece.
Szewczyk had the chance to turn the momentum but missed his chance on the No. 3 ball in the 15th rack, with Raga capitalizing on the blunder and swiftly cruising to the victory in the tournament that offers $30,000 (P1.6 million) for the winner.
It was a delightful run so far for the little-known Filipino contender who blanked Taiwan's Ko Pin Yi, 10-0, in the round-of-32 before downing Canadian John Morra, 10-4, in the Last 16.
Raga will face hometown hero and world No. 1 John Filler in the semifinals on Sunday evening.
The winner will face either American Shane Van Boening or Spain's David Alcaide in the finals.
