The southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” may continue to affect parts of the country and bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Sunday, Aug. 13.
PAGASA said cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may prevail over northern Palawan, Bicol Region, Visayas, and Mindanao.
It warned of the possibility of flooding or landslides in these areas due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.
The rest of the country may continue to experience warm weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a chance of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms possible in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA advised the public to be cautious of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, no gale warning is currently raised over any of the country’s seaboards.
PAGASA said small boats and other sea vessels are safe to sail.
