Fisherman dies from heart attack while fishing

BIÑAN CITY, Laguna – A fisherman drowned after suffering a heart attack while fishing at Laguna Lake in Barangay Malaban here on Sunday morning, August 12.

Police identified the victim as Antonio Salonga, a resident of Barangay Malaban.

Lito Salonga, uncle of Antonio, told police that his nephew was fishing when he felt chest pain and decided to return to the shore.

Moments later, Lito said he suddenly he heard a loud splash and Antonio went missing.

A search was mounted and Antonio's body was found afterwards.

Antonio was taken to the Ospital ng Biñan where he was declared dead.

Doctors said the victim died of asphyxia (a condition when the body is deprived of oxygen, causing unconsciousness to death and suffocation) secondary to drowning.
