Woman hurt, 2 suspects nabbed in robbery attempt in Malate
Alert police officers arrested two motorcycle-riding robbers who tried to snatch a handbag from a woman walking along Remedios Street in Malate, Manila on Friday evening, Aug. 11.
Manila Police District (MDP) Ermita Police Station (PS-5) authorities chanced upon the victim, Micah, 24, who works as a human resource coordinator for a firm, being dragged by a motorcycle ridden by Jerome Ponce, 28, and Dexter Bisuela, 26, both residents of Pasay City.
Earlier, the two suspects, armed with a toy gun, approached Perez and grabbed her handbag.
The victim was dragged along the street as the suspects sped off while her bag’s strap was still latched around her shoulder.
Perez sustained multiple injuries and had to be given medical aid.
Recovered from the suspects were a toy gun, a kitchen knife, and a black-and-red Honda Click 125 motorcycle.
The suspects were brought to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Forensic Group-Crime Laboratory for medical examination.
They will face charges for violation of Article 294 (robbery-holdup) and Article 266 of the Revised Penal Code (slight physical Injuries), Batas Pambansa (BP) 6 (illegal possession of bladed, pointed or blunt weapon), and Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
