Nylon Manila EIC apologizes over Kathryn Bernardo story
Former beauty queen Ayn Bernos, editor in chief of digital magazine Nylon Manila, took to social media recently to issue an apology relating an article they published on Kathryn Bernardo.
Note that irked some fans, describing it as something that supposedly undermined the actress on so many levels, including her looks, abilities.
In an open letter she posted on X, which bears the caption, "Thank you for calling my attention and I promise to do better," Ayn wrote, "Hi everyone, Recently, we published an article titled 'We're here for Kathryn Bernardo's Experimental Era' with every intention of commending her new role on A Very Good Girl. I was in awe of her performance in the teaser that I knew we had to share this story."
"I understand, however, that I have overlooked the tone and word choice in some parts of the piece. I take full responsibility for this. Personally and professionally, I believe in lifting women up and creating safe spaces for us to thrive, and I am sorry for this oversight," she added.
As to why it took her a few days to address the issue, Ayn related how she had to "reflect, seek advice, and learn from all the constructive feedback," first.
"This new role is not something I take lightly, and this experience has taught me so much about how much more work I have to do. I am listening. I am grateful for your feedback, and I will do better," she ended.
