Manila gov't temporarily halts bivalent Covid-19 vax for seniors, health workers
The Manila local government temporarily halted on Friday, Aug. 11, the Covid-19 bivalent vaccination for A1 (healthcare workers) and A2 (senior citizens) categories in the city.
In an advisory, the Manila Health Department (MHD) said the bivalent shots allocated for the city have been fully consumed.
Manila Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan started the administration of bivalent vaccines to the city's healthcare workers and senior citizens on June 27.
She said the components of the new bivalent shot supply the human immunity system with more sufficient protection against Covid-19 and its transmissible variants and will be considered the third booster dose for the eligible population.
According to MHD, a total of 8,233 individuals in Manila received the bivalent vaccine as third booster.
The bivalent vaccination will resume once the supply has been replenished by the Department of Health (DOH).
