ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo has promised to take up the cudgels for health works in connection with the pending release of their Covid-19 hazard pay.

Tulfo made this commitment after being invited to speak at the service awards for health workers at Southern Philippines Medical Center, Davao City.

The rookie congressman shared photos of the event on his Facebook on Friday, Aug. 12.

"Pangako ko ho sa inyo (I promise you) that I will remind the Department of Health, sa pamumuno ni (headed by) Sec. Ted Herbosa, to release the hazard pay of all health workers during the pandemic immediately," he wrote in the post.

"Isama na rin po natin ang dagdag-pasahod sa ating mga health workers, especially to our nurses, para na rin mahikayat silang manatili sa ating bansa (We will also raise the issue on salary increase for our health workers, especially our nurses, so that they could be encouraged to stay in the country)," added Tulfo.

Tulfo will have a chance to do all that during the per agency budget deliberations of the House Committee on Appropriations next week. As per tradition, the heads of the different departments come to the House of Representatives to discuss the details of their respective budget allocations.

The appropriations panel began tackling the P5.768-trillion National Expenditure Program (NEP) or proposed national budget for 2024 last Aug. 10.
