IT'S THE SMALL THINGS

Last Monday, Aug. 7, MovEd had the utmost honor and privilege of signing a Memorandum of Agreement with the Shakey’s Philippines group as its partner beneficiary for one of the company’s corporate social responsibility programs. On a personal note, I was extremely thrilled because I have always been a loyal patron, and fan of Shakey’s, with its thin crust pepperoni pizza, iced tea and newly released chicken tenders topping my list. As part of the organization, we at MovEd are humbled to find that the values of the Shakey’s group are in line with our vision, and that we have found a new partner-in-mission with them.

These days, fundraising has proven to be a bit more challenging perhaps because a lot of donors are feeling the fatigue of the pandemic aftermath. That is not to say however that people are hesitant to help. In fact, the opposite is true – the greater audience is just looking for small, painless ways to be able to help out. The kind of help that does not break the bank, but still gratifies and alleviates one’s conscience somehow because you were able to do something in your everyday to make a difference in the lives of others.

This is exactly what this partnership with Shakey’s brings about – the opportunity for their diners to engage in an advocacy, and be given a worthwhile platform to help out a cause, while indulging in delightful and delicious Shakey’s delights. Beginning Sept. 1, diners and patrons will have the option of ordering from, and creating their own bundles, a portion of which will be donated to MovEd’s early childhood education programs. These bundles will be available for dine-in, or direct delivery. In addition, diners will also have the chance to donate directly to MovEd simply by scanning a QR code should they wish to. Together, we can all make a difference in the lives of the future generation.

When a partnership is organic and symbiotic, things flow seamlessly, and that is exactly how the MovEd group felt upon meeting the leadership team of Shakey’s. The signing was symbolic of a partnership forged, which we are optimistic and hopeful can continue beyond the promo period of these bundles.

It is not everyday that you come across companies that are aligned with your vision, but it is even more rare to be given a chance to work together to provide a platform for the greater community to take part.
