LPA, 'habagat' to bring scattered rains across parts of PH
Several parts of the country will experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the next 24 hours due to the low-pressure area (LPA) and southwest monsoon, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Friday, Aug. 11.
PAGASA said the LPA located 310 kilometers east of Borongan City in Eastern Samar, and the southwest monsoon or “habagat,” will affect Catanduanes, Sorsogon, Albay, Masbate, northern part of Palawan, Visayas, and Mindanao.
It warned of the possibility of flooding or landslides in these areas due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country may continue to experience warm weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a chance of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms possible in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA advised the public to be cautious of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
It noted that Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao may continue to experience cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms next week, while the rest of the country will have partly cloudy skies with isolated afternoon or evening rain showers and thunderstorms.
