Caloocan LGU to build new city hall

Caloocan City Mayor Dale Gonzalo “Along” Malapitan led on Friday, Aug. 11, the groundbreaking ceremony for new Caloocan City Hall - North in Barangay 177 that will bring the local government’s services closer to the residents.

The local government said the new building will serve as an upgrade to the facilities of the current one in the north, which was also established in the same barangay.

It will be a complete replica of the Caloocan City Hall - South, completed in 2017, with four floors where offices of different city departments are located and a basement.

Malapitan said that this new city hall, which will have modern facilities, is one of the big projects he promised for the development of the city and of its services.

“Inaasahan po natin na mas maraming mga mamamayan kayang pag-serbisyuhan ng iba’t-ibang kagawaran ng pamahalaang lungsod dahil mas malaki at mas maayos na mga pasilidad po ang hatid ng bagong city hall na itatayo natin sa North (We hope that the various departments of the city government will be able to serve more citizens because the new city hall that we will build in the North will bring bigger and better facilities),” Malapitan said.

“Sa pagtatayo po ng bagong city hall, asahan niyo po na mas mailalapit pa sa ating mga kababayan ang aksyon at malasakit ng pamahalaang lungsod (With new city hall’s construction, expect that the action and concern of the city government will be brought closer to our citizens),” he added.

He also encouraged the city residents to take care of the new city hall once it is finished.

During the event, Malapitan signed the blueprint of the building before it was placed inside a capsule that was buried to the ground.

He also hit the walls of the old city hall with a sledgehammer symbolizing the start of its upgrade.

The local government said the construction of the new city hall is expected to be completed in two years.

Present during the event were Caloocan City Vice Mayor Karina Teh, District 1 Representative Oscar “Oca” Malapitan, city councilors and department heads.
