TIAONG, Quezon – The Brigada Eskwela 2023 or Schools Maintenance Week in this province kicked off at Cabay National High School here on Friday, August 11.

This annual Department of Education activity was also held at the General Luna National High School, Gumaca West Elementary School, and General Nakar High School.
This year’s Brigada Eskwela theme is “Bayanihan para sa Matatag na Paaralan.”
Mayor Vincent Arjay Mea, who led the launching here, said he will ask Vice President and Education Secretary Sara Duterte to help resolve the backlog of 88 backlog public schools in this municipality.
Mea added that 27,000 bags containing school materials are ready for distribution to all students in 35 elementary, junior, and senior high schools here with a total population of 27,000 students.
He said that the local government unit has fumigated and rehabilitated these classrooms and built additional wash rooms.
Mea said P8.5 million has been allocated for educational programs for the municipality.
Brigada Eskwela in Quezon was spearheaded by the Department of Education-Quezon led by Provincial Schools Division superintendent Dr. Rommel Bautista.
