Bureau of Immigration (BI) operatives apprehended a an alleged American military deserter along Roxas Boulevard in Manila recently, authorities said on Friday, August 11.

Johnmark Katipunan Tandoc, a 32-year-old military specialist, had been sought by the United States Armed Forces for desertion.
BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco labeled him an undesirable and undocumented alien, given his canceled passport.
Tandoc's active US arrest warrant for military desertion prompted BI's action, after being notified by the US government earlier this year.
Tansingco praised the successful operation as evidence of strong collaboration between the two nations in capturing and ensuring accountability for fugitives.
Tandoc is being temporarily held at the BI detention center in Taguig City while awaiting deportation.
