43 inmates in Carmona complete elementary, junior high school

CARMONA CITY, Cavite – A batch of inmates or persons deprived of liberty (PDL) here proved that being in jail is not a barrier to education.

On Thursday, August 10, 40 PDLs and three former PDLs marched during the Alternative Learning System graduation and moving up ceremony of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) Carmona.

Out of the ALS completers, 14 received their elementary diplomas, while 29 received their junior high school diplomas.

Present during the ceremony were Mayor Dahlia A. Loyola, Vice Mayor Cesar L. Ines Jr., BJMP Carmona Officer-in-Charge Jail Inspector Aris G. Aquino, and Jail Officer I Richard T. Piamonte, who served as the guest speaker.

In a Facebook post, Mayor Loyola expressed her gratitude to Piamonte for inspiring the ALS completers to pursue their dreams and never lose hope.
