CAMP RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – Eleven New People’s Army (NPA) rebels have surrendered to the police in the Caraga region.
The Police Regional Office-13 welcomed the surrender of these communist rebels who were identified as alias “Tuman,” “Aga,” “Maring,” “Mar” and “Weweng,” “Erik,” “Jonas,” “RD,” “Gabriel,” “Wendi,” “Lonmar,” and “Ramly.”
PRO 13-Regional Public Information Office (RPIO) chief Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer said they surrendered a shotgun, rifle grenades, a caliber .38 revolver, a .357 revolver, a grenade, and bullets.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Kirby John B. Kraft commended field units for swiftly attending to the needs of the rebel returnees.
“I commend the efforts of our police officers in negotiating with the former rebels to abandon the Maoist ideologies and in bringing them back to the government's fold.”
Surrenderers will undergo processing to enable them to avail of the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program, Ometer said.
