Premier Volleyball League (PVL) is set to become a 12-team tournament as new team Nxled joins the grid in the second All-Filipino Conference later this year.
The newcomer Chameleons will serve as the second team of Akari Lighting & Technology Corporation in the pro volleyball league, with the Akari Chargers still looking for their breakthrough title in the tournament after joining last year.

With the continued growth of the only pro women’s volleyball league in the country, the recently concluded Invitational Conference saw the addition of three new club teams in Foton Tornadoes, Farm Fresh Foxies and Gerflor Defenders.
"Akari has been a staunch supporter of Philippine volleyball for the past few years. Having a second team will help provide more jobs for players and coaches alike,” said Russell Balbacal, Akari Sports Director in a statement.
"We are committed to forming a very competitive team in this new endeavor of ours because this is not just a one-shot deal. We are guaranteeing to the PVL and fans alike that this team will be in the league for the long term,” he added.
The league previously revealed that it will be staging a second All-Filipino tentatively set on October 16 until December as FIVB calendars coincide with the schedule of potential imports for the Reinforced.
Originally, the Reinforced is the third and last conference of the season, where teams are allowed to tap imports and beef up their roster for the title bid.
The Creamline Cool Smashers are the record-setting team in the league and the reigning champions of the All-Filipino after winning their fourth conference title back in March of this year.
Other local teams going against Nxled are the Petro Gazz Angels, who are the supposed Reinforced Conference defending champion, Cignal HD Spikers, F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, Choco Mucho Flying Titans, Chery Tiggo Crovssovers and the PLDT High Speed Hitters.
In the meantime, all eyes will be on Nxled in the coming weeks as it is set to announce the coaching staff and lineup of the team for the season-ending conference.
