BACOLOD CITY – The City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) and Police Station 7 arrested a member of the Caunda Drug Group and seized more than two kilos of suspected shabu worth P14,382,000 in Purok Pablo Torre, Barangay Vista Alegre, here, on Thursday, August 10.
Police identified the suspect as Michael Frias, 45, of Barangay Vista Alegre.
Frias also yielded a digital weighing scale, the P10,000 marked money, and P220.
Police Capt. Joven Mogato, CDEU head, said they have monitored the suspect for more than a month, upon learning that he was the supplier of illegal drugs in some barangays here, based on intelligence report.
Mogato said the suspect was arrested for a drug offense in 2009 and was released from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City in 2019 after the case was reportedly dismissed when he appealed in court.
With this development, Mogato said that the supply of illegal drugs here will be reduced.
Last week, police seized suspected shabu worth P8.8 million from a member of the Caunda Drug Group and her two cohorts in Barangay Singcang-Airport here.
These two accomplishments came after the sub-group leader of the Caunda Drug Group was arrested for drug charges through an arrest warrant in Compostela town in Cebu province on June 2.
Police Col. Noel Aliño, Bacolod City police director, recently offered a cash reward of P100,000 to anyone who could provide information that could lead to the arrest of a member or leader of the Caunda Drug Group.
