The southwest monsoon, or “habagat,” may bring rain showers and thunderstorms over parts of the country, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said on Thursday, Aug. 10.
Cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms may affect Western Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Soccsksargen, Occidental Mindoro, northern portion of Palawan, and Lanao del Norte in the next 24 hours.
PAGASA warned of the possibility of flooding or landslides in these areas due to moderate to occasional heavy rains.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country may continue to experience warm weather due to partly cloudy to cloudy skies with a chance of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms possible in the afternoon or evening.
PAGASA advised the public to be cautious of possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, no gale warning is currently raised over any of the country’s seaboards.
PAGASA said small boats and other sea vessels are safe to sail.
