Gatchalian: Gov't to earn additional P6.15-B income from estate tax amnesty extension
The government stands to earn additional revenues of about P6.15-billion from the Estate Tax Amnesty bill that has already lapsed into law without the signature of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian, chairman of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, pointed this out in a statement after the measure lapsed into law as Republic Act No. 11569. The Estate Tax Amnesty law amended RA 11213 or the Tax Amnesty Act, extending the period of availing tax amnesty until June 14, 2025.

“The implementation of this measure is projected to benefit 153,518 potential availers and generate additional income of P6.15-billion for the government,” Gatchalian said in a statement.
We expect more people to benefit from the payment of estate tax under this law, especially the rest of our countrymen who have financial limitations),” the senator said.
In addition, the law is also expected to help support major government projects that will strengthen the country's economy,” he added.
He further said that with the extension of the estate tax amnesty program, heirs are granted another opportunity to benefit from tax relief.
The new law, the senator said, comes with a simplified application process and an option to pay on an installment basis, making it easy for taxpayers to comply.
As chairperson of the Senate Committee on Ways and Means, we will continue to support bills that will strengthen the administrative aspect of tax payment in order to increase government revenue without imposing new taxes),” the lawmaker further said.
