RIZAL, Kalinga – A fugitive who bolted the Cabarroguis, Quirino District Jail and hid in a remote barangay here for nine years was arrested by the police on August 7.
The escapee was identified as Remynad Santos Cabe, 38, of Diffun, Quirino, who faces carnapping and robbery charges.
Police Major Shameral Banag, Rizal chief of police, said they received information from a concerned citizen that a Person Deprived of Liberty had been living in the area for years.
The Rizal Municipal Police Station immediately coordinated with the Bureau of Jail and Management Penology-Region 2, Diffun police and Cabarroguis District Jail, and RTC Second Judicial Region, Branch 32, Quirino to arrest the suspect.
Banag said Cabe was apprehended through a memorandum from Jail Senior Supt. Amelia Rayandayan, BJMP-Region 2, through Peter Irving Corvera, Interior Undersecretary for Public Safety, stating that he is among four detainees at Cabarroguis District Jail who escaped on September 13, 2014.
Banag said after confirming the identity of the suspect, they immediately coordinated with barangay officials, and together with the BJMP-Region 2, arrested Cabe at 4:20 p.m.
