The majority of Filipinos who watched President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) were satisfied with his report, based on the results of a survey released by big data research firm Tangere.
In the survey results released on Tuesday, Aug. 1, Tangere found that 71 percent of respondents were “very satisfied” (29 percent) or “slightly satisfied” (42 percent) with President Marcos’ report to the Filipino people.
“This is driven by their recognition of the administration’s reported achievements,” Tangere said.
It noted that most of the respondents agreed with President Marcos’ report on the administration’s key accomplishments in the previous year, which include the provision of health services (61 percent), improvement of quality of education (60 percent), improvement of the agricultural sector (59 percent), lower prices of goods (59 percent), and higher employment rate (58 percent). “This satisfaction with the SONA is significantly higher in PBBM’s bailiwick of North/Central Luzon (76 percent), while less so in South Luzon/Bicol (63 percent) where the few dissatisfied are mostly coming from,” Tangere said. Meanwhile, 12 percent of respondents were dissatisfied with the President’s SONA (3 percent “very dissastisfied” and 9 percent “slightly dissatisfied). “Those dissatisfied with the SONA may need more convincing of achievements in education, agriculture, inflation response, Maharlika Fund use, and illegal drug response,” Tangere pointed out. The remaining 17 percent were unsure whether President Marcos’ SONA was satisfactory or not. Overall, the public’s optimism about their quality of life in the upcoming year was positively impacted by President Marcos’ SONA, Tangere said. The mobile-based Post-SONA survey was conducted from July 26 to 28 with 2,000 survey respondents proportionately representing the following areas nationwide: 12 percent from Metro Manila, 23 percent from North and Central Luzon, 22 percent from South Luzon (including Calabarzon, Mimaropa, and Bicol), 20 percent from the Visayas, and 23 percent from Mindanao.
