Marcos on Buwan ng Wika: Filipino key to nat'l unity, progress

In his message for the celebration of "Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa," Marcos urged Filipinos to use the Filipino language to continue telling the stories of the nation which will be key to boosting the Philippines identity. "Sa pagkakataong ito, ating bigyang-pansin ang kapangyarihan ng wika hindi lamang sa pagbuo ng ating kaisipan at paraan ng komunikasyon, kundi pati na rin sa pagkintal ng ating patuloy na pagsulong at pagdala ng kolektibong karunugan sa bawat henerasyon (At this moment, let us recognize the power of language not just in forming ideas and communicating, but also in establishing our continuous progress and in fostering collective knowledge to every generation)," Marcos said on Tuesday, Aug. 1. "Sa pamamagitan ng wikang Filipino, ating ilahad ang mga kuwento at karanasang magiging matibay na saligan ng ating pag-unlad (Through the Filipino language, let us promote the stories and experiences that will become the foundation of our progress)," he added. The President emphasized that Filipinos must continue giving value to the Filipino language and culture that are keys to the nation's unity. He urged every Filipino to embrace unity and patriotism towards a brighter future. "Hinihikayat ko ang bawat mamamayan na ipakita ang kanilang pagmamahal sa bayan sa kani-kanilang paraan upang mangibabaw ang ating wika at kultura sa pagbuo ng ating pagkakakilanlan (I am encouraging every Filipino to show their love for the country through their own way, to promote our language and culture in forming our identity)," the Chief Executive said before wishing the citizenry a successful celebration of  Buwan ng Wika.
