Maynilad turns over 'Ginahawa Garden' to Malabon LGU
The Maynilad Water Services, Inc. formally turned over on Tuesday, Aug. 1, a nine-meter long "Ginghawa Garden" to Malabon City government, which will help provide nutritious food to the city residents.
The innovative vegetable garden was installed by Maynilad at Atis Compound in Barangay Potrero to support Malabon City Mayor Jeannie Sandoval's goal to improve food security and livelihood for the residents.
It is complete with pots and soil that can be used by the residents to plant and grow seedlings for vegetables like tomatoes, lettuce, and eggplant.

“Progress is much faster when the private and public sector come together. We are grateful for the support of Maynilad and we look forward for this partnership to continue to grow to help fast track Malabon’s recovery,” Sandoval said.
Barangay Potrero Chairman Sherryl Nolasco has tasked the community’s Ladies Brigade to take care of the vegetable garden.
The brigade will make compost and plant additional vegetables to support the community, the local government said.
Earlier in July, the city also partnered with Maynilad for the installation of a rainwater harvesting system in the said barangay that collects sustainable water which residents can use for their gardens and plant nursery.
“Ang vertical garden at rainwater harvesting system ay malaking bagay para sa aming baranggay. Makakatulong ito pandilig sa halaman pati na sa kalapit lugar kung mawalan ng tubig. Makakatulong rin ang pagtanim ng gulay para sa mga proyektong pang-nutrisyon ng Bgy. Potrero (The vertical garden and rainwater harvesting system is a valuable support for our barangay. This will help water the garden, as well as help the nearby communities in case of water service interruption. Planting vegetables will also support the nutrition projects of Bgy. Protrero),” Nolasco said.
