Filipina content creator Inka Magnaye to voice the Scarab for PH release of Warner Bros. Pictures all-new movie 'Blue Beetle'

Warner Bros. Philippines announced today that Filipina voice talent and content creator Inka Magnaye will voice the Scarab – an ancient alien relic pivotal to the titular DC Super Hero’s story – for the Philippine release of Warner Bros. Pictures’ upcoming action-adventure “Blue Beetle.” In the film, the Scarab, called Khaji-Da, guides Jaime Reyes (played by “Cobra Kai” breakout star Xolo Maridueña) and helps him discover – and learn to control – his seemingly limitless new powers on his journey to becoming the Super Hero Blue Beetle. Some of the character’s lines are even in Tagalog! Something Pinoy fans should look out for.   Magnaye, whose rich body of work includes voicework for Philippine Airlines (hers is that very soothing voice in the Philippine flag carrier’s in-flight instructional safety announcement), Pond’s, Smart, Globe, Nissin, Mitsubishi, and popular podcast “Sleeping Pill With Inka,” is the first Philippine-based Filipino talent to do voice-over work in a DC film. She will be properly credited too; watch for Magnaye’s name in the credits!  In “Blue Beetle,” recent college grad Jaime Reyes (Maridueña) returns home full of aspirations for his future, only to find that home is not quite as he left it. As he searches to find his purpose in the world, fate intervenes when Jaime unexpectedly finds himself in possession of an ancient relic of alien biotechnology: the Scarab. When the Scarab suddenly chooses Jaime to be its symbiotic host, he is bestowed with an incredible suit of armor capable of extraordinary and unpredictable powers, forever changing his destiny as he becomes the Super Hero Blue Beetle.   Watch for Inka Magnaye’s turn as the Scarab in “Blue Beetle,” opening exclusively in Philippine cinemas Aug. 16. #BlueBeetle #TeamKhajiDa About “Blue Beetle” From Warner Bros. Pictures comes the feature film “Blue Beetle,” marking the DC Super Hero’s first time on the big screen. The film, directed by Angel Manuel Soto, stars Xolo Maridueña in the title role as well as his alter ego, Jaime Reyes.  Starring alongside Maridueña (“Cobra Kai”) are Adriana Barraza (“Rambo: Last Blood,” “Thor”), Damían Alcázar (“Narcos,” “Narcos: Mexico”), Elpidia Carrillo (“Mayans M.C.,” the “Predator” films), Bruna Marquezine (“Maldivas,” “God Save the King”), Raoul Max Trujillo (the “Sicario” films, “Mayans M.C.”), with Oscar winner Susan Sarandon (“Monarch,” “Dead Man Walking”), and George Lopez (the “Rio and “Smurf” franchises). The film also stars Belissa Escobedo (“American Horror Stories,” “Hocus Pocus 2”) and Harvey Guillén (“What We Do in the Shadows”). Soto (“Charm City Kings,” “The Farm”) directs from a screenplay by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer (“Miss Bala”), based on characters from DC.
