Couple yields P3.87-M shabu in Iloilo City buy-bust


ILOILO CITY – Police seized suspected shabu worth P3.87 million from live-in partners in a buy-bust operation in this city on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Suspects were identified as 41-year-old Rene “John” Aguilar Paches and 29-year-old Jean “Neneng” Famucol Narciso.

The couple was arrested after they sold shabu to a poseur-buyer in Barangay Luna, Jaro District.

The operation was led by Police Capt. Glenn Soliman of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6 of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6.

They were backed by the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO)-City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU) under Police Lt. Col. Antonio Benitez Jr. and the Jaro Police Station under Police Capt. Lester Oliveros.

Suspects yielded a total of 570 grams of shabu.

An intelligence report said the couple is considered as among the region’s major drug peddlers.

Paches served time in jail starting 2016 for a drug-related case. He was reportedly released in 2020.

Police Brig. Gen. Sidney Villaflor, PRO-6 director, lauded the police for another successful anti-drug operation.

“Isa pong napakagandang simula para sa buwan ng Agosto, napakalaking bahala at dami ng shabu ang nawala sa supply chain (This is a very good start for the month of August. The operation drastically reduced the shabu supply chain),” Villaflor said.
